WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME JOURNEY
I had to ask myself. I had to look myself in the mirror and ask, “Who are you?”. When I could answer that question, I found happiness. (I’ll admit it took awhile; a few tears and some denial.) Not because it gave me answers to all my unanswered questions. I found happiness because I finally knew who I was. I could be content with the person I am because I knew her. I didn’t have to compete with anyone else anymore.
We are human; unique; beautiful. As humans we were made to be just that: Human. Caked onto our personal humanity are “things” we were never intended to be covered with.
In being camouflaged, we are no longer human. We are no longer original. We are lost. I will give this warning to my children. I’ve been living in this world a short eighteen years and I, along with many others, am swamped. I am determined to find myself under these things that I have unknowingly picked up along my journey. Layer by layer I must peel away these “things” until I find who I was in the beginning. To come to know the beautiful person I really am. To be human again.
